Position Summary

The Department of Radiology and the Radiology Foundation at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) are looking to hire an Executive Administrative Director (EAD) to help support one of the largest departments at BCH. The 600+ members of the Department of Radiology provide a full range of imaging services for newborns, infants, children, teenagers, young adults and pregnant women atBCH and our satellite clinicsin Lexington, North Dartmouth, Peabody, Waltham, and Weymouth. Our experienced radiology team carries out more than 350,000 imaging studies each year, using the latest equipment and techniques specially designed or adapted for use with children. We are seeking an energetic Executive Administrative Director to lead six Directors and a large management team. This role calls for an upbeat, engaged leader who prioritizes staff satisfaction while overseeing facilities planning, capital equipment, and a substantial financial portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience collaborating with clinical staff across a large, multi-site footprint and will bring strong negotiation and financial management skills. Prior experience in Radiology or Imaging is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management, strategic development, and fiscal oversight of the Radiology Department as well as the Foundation
  • Oversight of administrative and financial operations, including medical staff appointments; applicable budgets; billing; and compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulatory policies and procedures
  • Accountability to the Chief, Vice President, and Foundation Board of Directors for business development activities, as applicable
  • Partnering with the Chief and Vice President to develop, execute, and monitor strategic planning for the department/foundation and advancement of BCH corporate goals
  • Working with faculty and BCH leadership on the development, implementation, and oversight of new program proposals
  • Conducting staff and physician faculty meetings to disseminate information and solicit input related to policies, procedures, and day-to-day operations
  • Oversight of employee payroll and benefits, as applicable
  • Acting as an active liaison and coordinator with all satellite practices
  • Ensuring accurate and compliant insurance billing and coding compliance related to department/foundation payors
  • Serving as the lead executive in coordinating, negotiating, and collaborating with the Physician Organization
  • Developing, planning, and monitoring department/foundation operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the Chief and BCH leadership
  • Collaborating with the Chief and all Principal Investigators on the research mission and financial oversight of research grants and projects
  • Ensuring preparation for and presentation at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors, as well as compliance with required state and federal regulations for a 501(c)(3) organization to preserve not-for-profit designation
  • Participating in hospital task forces and committees
  • Jointly reporting to the Chief of Service/Foundation President and the BCH Vice President of Clinical Services
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s strongly preferred in Business, Public Health, or Health Care Administration
  • Ten or more years of senior leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of health care IT systems and technology-driven workflows
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, navigate complex ethical and operational challenges, and collaborate effectively with peer leaders
