About LVS Hassocks

LVS Hassocks is a multi award winning specialist school for autistic young people aged 11 to 19.

The school provides a calm, nurturing and highly individualised learning environment where students are supported to grow in confidence, develop their independence and achieve their potential.

As part of the LTC Education Group, LVS Hassocks combines a strong educational heritage with a clear purpose: transforming lives and unleashing potential.

The Role

As Exam Manager, you will take ownership of the planning, organisation and delivery of mock and public examinations across the school.

This is a trusted and highly responsible role. Your accuracy and organisation will help ensure examinations run smoothly, regulatory requirements are met and students receive the appropriate support and access arrangements.

You will work closely with students, teaching colleagues, examination boards and a team of invigilators. Alongside managing the practical and administrative demands of each examination series, you will be a calm and reassuring presence for young people who may find examinations particularly challenging.

The role offers 20 hours per week across 40 weeks of the year, with flexible hours considered around the requirements of the examination calendar.

You will need to be available throughout key examination periods and during essential results activity in August.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Planning and delivering mock and public examinations in accordance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements.
  • Managing examination entries, amendments, timetables, seating plans, room arrangements and access requirements.
  • Recruiting, training, coordinating and supporting the school's team of examination invigilators.
  • Ensuring examination papers, scripts, stationery and confidential materials are received, recorded, stored and dispatched securely.
  • Liaising with students, teaching staff, Heads of Department, examination boards and external organisations.
  • Supporting candidates with agreed access arrangements, including laptop concessions and other reasonable adjustments.
  • Coordinating results activity, certificates, reviews of marking, access to scripts and special consideration applications.
What You'll Need
  • Exceptional organisation, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage fixed deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Strong computer and data handling skills, including confidence using spreadsheets, laptops and Chromebooks.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to provide calm, confident instructions to students, colleagues and invigilators.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work effectively under pressure.
  • A calm and adaptable approach when plans change.
  • A degree or professional qualification, or significant experience gained within a closely related role.
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding and supporting autistic young people.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience of managing or supporting examination arrangements within a school, college or other educational setting would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with JCQ regulations and examination procedures would also be desirable.
  • Experience of leading an invigilation team, coordinating access arrangements or using examination management and EDI systems would be particularly valuable.
  • Previous experience within specialist education or an autism focused setting would be welcome, but the right approach, strong organisational skills and ability to support young people are equally important.
What You'll Get
  • A competitive salary, depending on experience.
  • A permanent, part time role working 20 hours per week across 40 weeks per year.
  • Flexible working hours considered around the requirements of the examination calendar.
  • Free food and refreshments while on duty.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • A choice of contributory pension schemes.
  • Life assurance and access to HSF health care plans.
  • An Employee Assistance Programme, including access to confidential telephone counselling.
  • Fully supported training and continuing professional development.
  • Cycle to Work scheme and school fee remission.
  • A supportive working environment where your expertise will make a meaningful difference.
