Job summary

The Portsmouth Marriott Hotel is seeking an experienced Sales & Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of complex, high-profile events on property. You will own the end-to-end event journey, from sales handover through on-site delivery and post-event review, coordinating with Sales and hotel departments to ensure exceptional service.

This role combines meticulous organisation with strong commercial judgement, customer care and leadership to drive revenue and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in event management or related area.
• Experience managing complex events with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness including budgeting and revenue management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Organised, solutions-focused with adaptability.
• Commitment to exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare event documentation and coordinate with Sales, hotel departments, and customers to deliver seamless, high-quality events.
• Lead pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups, communicating requirements, feedback and agreed actions.
• Oversee the customer experience from file turnover through the post-event phase and handover back to Sales.
• Identify operational challenges and develop effective alternatives and solutions.
• Manage customer budgets, group room blocks and meeting space to meet client needs and maximise revenue.
• Forecast sleeping-room, catering and audio-visual revenue and manage event profitability.
• Upsell products, services and enhancements throughout the event process.
• Participate in customer site inspections and support the sales process when required.
• Act as the liaison between the field sales representative and customer throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases.
• Review billing and payments with clients and ensure event records are accurate and complete.
• Maintain a visible presence during events, greet customers and hand over event details clearly to the Event Operations team.
• Obtain and act on guest feedback, resolve concerns and follow up with customers after their event.
• Set a positive example for guest relations, recognise team contributions and uphold all standards, policies and procedures.
