Whitehall Garden Centre Ltd is seeking enthusiastic Event & Catering Assistants for seasonal Christmas events. You will welcome customers, support activities, and help operate catering huts while ensuring a festive, safe and enjoyable experience for families and visitors.

Roles involve dressing event spaces, guiding guests, and assisting with children’s activities. Weekend shifts and busy periods are common during the Christmas season.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming customers and providing a friendly and professional service.
• Assisting with the smooth running of Christmas events and activities.
• Serving hot chocolate and mulled wine.
• Assisting with the smooth running of the catering huts.
• Helping to prepare event areas before opening and tidy them afterwards.
• Setting up and dressing event spaces to create a seasonal atmosphere.
• Assisting customers with event activities and answering questions.
• Managing queues and customer flow during peak times.
• Checking tickets, bookings or event details where required.
• Supporting Santa and Christmas activities where appropriate.
• Helping with children’s activities and ensuring families have an enjoyable experience.
• Ensuring all areas remain clean, tidy and well presented throughout the day.
• Working closely with other Events and Garden Centre teams.
• Reporting issues or concerns to the manager.
• Following Health & Safety procedures and event guidelines.
• Maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
• Undertaking other duties to support the events.

Events & Catering Assistant – Seasonal Christmas

Whitehall Garden Centre is a family-run, award-winning business offering a wide range of shopping, dining and seasonal experiences for our customers.

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and energetic temporary Events & Catering Assistants to join our team during our exciting Christmas events.

This is a fantastic seasonal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, creating memorable experiences and being part of a busy events environment.

The Role

As an Events Assistant, you will help ensure our Christmas events run smoothly and provide an enjoyable experience for customers of all ages.

• Welcoming customers and providing a friendly and professional service
• Assisting with the smooth running of Christmas events and activities
• Serving hot chocolate & mulled wine
• Assisting with the smooth running of the catering huts
• Helping to prepare event areas before opening and tidy them afterwards

• Assisting customers with event activities and answering questions
• Helping to manage queues and customer flow during busy periods
• Checking tickets, bookings or event details where required

• Working closely with other members of the Events and Garden Centre teams
• Reporting any issues or customer concerns to the appropriate manager

• Helping to ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained at all times
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the successful running of the events

Christmas Characters & Costumes

Some positions will involve wearing an elf costume and interacting with children and families to help create a fun and magical Christmas experience.

Elf costumes will be provided by Whitehall Garden Centre

Applicants must be comfortable wearing a costume and engaging confidently with customers

A friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing personality is particularly important for these roles

• Previous experience in events, hospitality, retail, customer service or working with children would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Working Pattern

This is a seasonal role, with shifts available throughout Christmas event periods.

Weekend working is essential, particularly during the busy Christmas period. Aling with evenings.
