Job summary

Plaid Europe is seeking a Sales Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the region, guiding design, discovery, and proof-of-concept engagements with fintech customers. You will collaborate with Account Executives from first technical contact to signature, shaping integration solutions and long-term success on Plaid’s platform.

You will build demo environments, discovery frameworks, and integration playbooks, while feeding customer feedback back into Plaid’s roadmap.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as sales engineering, solutions, implementation, or customer engineering, ideally at an API platform.
• Hands-on understanding of APIs and web and mobile integration, including REST, OAuth, webhooks, JSON, and SDKs, with the ability to build and debug a demo in JavaScript, Python, or similar.
• Experience selling to fintech or financial services in the UK or EU.
• Ability to move between deep technical conversations and business value conversations with different audiences.
• Consultative approach, strong customer empathy, and clear communication skills.
• Self-starter who’s comfortable growing in a region with a distributed team.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead on active opportunities across Startup, Mid-Market, and Enterprise accounts, partnering with Account Executives throughout the sales cycle.
• Run technical discovery and map customer requirements to Plaid’s products and integration patterns.
• Deliver tailored demonstrations and own proof-of-concept engagements, including hands-on debugging with customer engineers.
• Design integration architectures and validate the approach in sandbox with the customer’s engineers before signature.
• Respond to technical, security, and regulatory questionnaires and RFPs.
• Build and maintain reusable selling assets for European use cases and competitive positioning.
• Translate customer and prospect feedback into structured product insight for Product and Engineering.
• Raise the technical fluency of the sales team through enablement and deal reviews.
