Job summary

Willis Global in Colchester is seeking a European Freight Export/Import Operator to manage import/export freight across Europe by road and intermodal transport. The role reports to the Sea Freight Supervisor and focuses on profitability, shipment volumes, and excellent client service.

The successful candidate coordinates shipments, liaises with suppliers and carriers, and delivers efficient transport solutions while maintaining strong customer relationships and meeting client deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven European road freight operations experience.
• Understanding of transport and legislative controls.
• Strong customs service skills.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Able to adapt and implement new IT systems and innovations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop relationships with clients.
• Meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests.
• Monitor supplier performance.
• Prepare quotations in line with client requests.
• Assist colleagues during staff absences including imports/exports.
• Encourage and implement best practice across the department.
• Develop and maintain a proactive attitude with clients.
• React promptly to client requests and ensure service levels.
• Ensure deadlines are met by monitoring suppliers.
• Maintain files and ensure cost/invoicing compliance.
