Job summary

VGS is hiring a Solutions Support Engineer for Europe to be the technical front door for EU prospects and customers. You will scope use cases, map payment flows, and design solutions with EU Sales, then support go-lives and ongoing technical needs.

The role blends solution architecture with practical support, requiring strong API knowledge, PCI DSS awareness, and the ability to guide senior stakeholders across sales, implementation, and engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in technical support, integration or implementation engineering, solutions engineering, technical account management, or solutions architecture, with senior/lead capacity.
• Proven ability to work independently as the technical expert in a customer-facing role.
• Background at a merchant, PSP, processor, acquirer, issuer, card network, or payment infrastructure company.
• Experience with large-scale card or credential migrations and multi-PSP/payment orchestration.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS, data security, privacy, and compliance architecture.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences; able to create solution diagrams.
• Strong command of HTTP, REST APIs, and proxies; able to debug networking issues.
• Ability to read and debug code and write examples in Python/JS/Java/Ruby.
• Out-of-the-box thinking suited to a fast-paced startup.
• English at C1 or above.
• Collaboration, negotiation, and prioritization skills.
• Willingness to work EU business hours.

Responsibilities

• Solutions work for EU clients and teams (about 75% of the role).
• Overflow technical support (about 25% of the role).
• Produce architecture diagrams, proposals, demos, and PoCs; support RFIs and security reviews.
• Coordinate with US Solutions team to align with standards and share patterns.
• Back up EU teams in client conversations needing depth.
• Hand off designs to Implementation and provide oversight through go-live.
• Serve as escalation point for Support.
• Turn feedback into product roadmap input and reusable reference architectures.
