Job summary

Industrialconnected in Manchester is seeking an Estimating Engineer to prepare accurate, technically robust quotations for enquiries across investment casting, forging, MIM and subcontract manufacturing. You will review drawings, estimates for materials, tooling, processes, finishing and inspection, and issue RFQs to suppliers to build profitable bids.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings, symbols, and technical documentation.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Organised, accurate, and commercially aware approach.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work across multiple departments.
• Strong willingness to learn about manufacturing processes and estimating systems.
• Experience in engineering costing or technical estimating would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of investment casting, forging, MIM or related manufacturing processes would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage enquiries from initial receipt through to quotation submission.
• Review drawings, CAD models, and specifications to assess manufacturing requirements.
• Prepare accurate quotations covering materials, tooling, processes, finishing, and inspection.
• Issue RFQs to subcontract suppliers and incorporate returned costs into quotations.
• Maintain supplier pricing, estimating information, and customer data within the ERP system.
• Support new product introduction through cost estimates, BOMs, and manufacturing routings.
• Review manufacturability and identify potential cost-saving or process improvement opportunities.
• Work with sales and operational teams to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
