S & D Trade Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimating Manager to join their client’s commercial team in the North of England, with a focus on large-scale MEP projects. The role involves overseeing take-offs, tender preparation, and managing estimators, delivering accurate cost plans for varied sectors.

The role is primarily remote with occasional site visits; strong Excel and Trimble Amtech skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Time served plumber with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or proven industry experience.
• Comprehensive mechanical technical knowledge required.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

• Self-motivated with a can-do approach.
• Organised and disciplined planning and approach.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee detailed mechanical take-offs for a variety of projects from high level cost plans/budgets to fully designed.
• Take tenders through from arrival to handover to contracts team when secured.
• Liaise with sub-contractors, vendors and suppliers to prepare tenders promptly.
• Study and analyse mechanical drawings to establish accurate price.
• Prepare commercial schedules of rates and tender summaries.
• Identify value engineering options and risks during tender bids.
• Build relationships with customers to promote repeat business.
• Lead and grow a team of estimators, delegating tasks effectively.

Mechanical Estimating Manager Required Local To Manchester!

Our client carries out large, complex MEP engineering project works across the UK and Ireland, delivering leading-edge construction solutions across a range of key sectors including; Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Heritage, Hospitality & Leisure, Life Sciences & Residential through their Major Projects, Facilities Management & Specialist Projects divisions and are now looking to take on an Estimating Manager with a Mechanical background to start building up a team in England.

The role:

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimating Manager to join their Commercial department. The Ideal Candidate will be a motivated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and positively to the team and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

This role is primarily working from home, however there may be the occasional requirement to head to site. This role is suitable for someone local to either Leeds or Manchester, with our client looking to increase their presence in the North of England.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Responsible for overseeing detailed mechanical take offs for a variety of projects from high level cost plans / budgets, design & build & fully designed.
• Taking tenders through from arrival in the company to the effective handover to the contracts team when the project is secured.
• Liaise and communicate with Sub-Contractors, Vendors and Suppliers to prepare tenders in a timely manner.

• Take an active role in preparing commercial quantified schedules of rates / tender summary information.

Skills and Qualifications: Essential
