Job summary

WR Engineering is seeking a Technical Estimator to influence multi-million-pound projects by delivering accurate costings, material pricing and supplier negotiations. You will interpret drawings, work with engineering, production and purchasing, and drive cost improvements without compromising quality.

You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure competitiveness across projects while maintaining quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering or machine shop background.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand machining processes.
• Experience estimating or costing manufactured components.
• Knowledge of metals and commodity pricing.
• Commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• ERP experience, preferably Syteline.

Responsibilities

• Producing accurate cost estimates from engineering drawings.
• Pricing raw materials including forgings, bar stock and fasteners.
• Calculating machining, labour and component costs.
• Managing supplier quotations and negotiating competitive pricing.

Technical Estimator

I'm looking for a Technical Estimator to join a leading UK engineering manufacturer where your technical knowledge will directly influence multi-million-pound projects.

You'll work closely with engineering, production and purchasing teams to produce accurate costings, negotiate the best value with suppliers and help drive cost improvements without compromising quality.

What you'll be doing:

• Producing accurate cost estimates from engineering drawings
• Pricing raw materials including forgings, bar stock and fasteners
• Calculating machining, labour and component costs
• Managing supplier quotations and negotiating competitive pricing
• Monitoring supplier capacity and lead times
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure projects remain commercially competitive

We're looking for someone with:

• A strong engineering or machine shop background
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand machining processes
• Experience estimating or costing manufactured components
• Knowledge of metals, commodity pricing and manufacturing techniques
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• ERP experience (Syteline advantageous)
