Job summary

Freightliner Group Ltd is seeking a senior leader to head people, training and business readiness for the ERTMS Programme. You will drive the change strategy, ensure readiness across Operations, Engineering, Safety and Training, and maximise use of Freightliner\'s training academies and resources.

You will build and maintain stakeholder engagement networks, manage risks, and lead transition activities to ensure seamless implementation and sustainable benefits across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience leading business readiness across multiple functions.
• Ability to define and implement change strategies for large programmes.
• Proven track record delivering ERTMS or similar safety-critical changes.
• Strong engagement with trade unions and stakeholders.
• Ability to assess organisational impact and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the ERTMS Business Change Strategy and plans.
• Lead business readiness activities across Operations, Engineering, Safety, Training, Control and Support Functions to support successful ERTMS deployment.
• Identify and assess organisational impacts arising from ERTMS implementation and develop mitigation and adoption plans.
• Define, monitor and report programme benefits, ensuring ERTMS delivers the intended operational, safety, performance and business outcomes.
• Support the development and implementation of future operating models, organisational structures, business processes and ways of working required to enable ERTMS operations.
• Work closely with operational and engineering leaders and subject matter experts to ensure business processes, procedures and working practices are updated appropriately.
• Establish and maintain change networks and stakeholder forums to support engagement and adoption across the business.
• Monitor change readiness and employee engagement, identifying emerging risks and implementing corrective actions where required.
• Support managers and supervisors in leading their teams through change by providing coaching, guidance, tools and practical support throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Develop the overall ERTMS training and competence strategy in collaboration with programme, operational and engineering and training stakeholders.
• Ensure all training requirements arising from ERTMS implementation are identified, planned and delivered effectively.
• Oversee the development, implementation and governance of ERTMS training materials, learning programmes and competence assessment processes.
• Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of ERTMS training to minimise operational disruption while achieving programme objectives.
• Maximise the use of Freightliner\'s training academies, simulators, instructors and learning facilities to support programme delivery and develop resource plans that optimise the deployment of internal training capability while minimising reliance on external providers where appropriate.
• Work with the Training Academy lead in Ipswich to ensure sufficient capacity exists to support programme delivery requirements around other requirements.
• Identify future training infrastructure, technology and resource needs arising from the ERTMS programme and ensure training facilities and learning technologies support modern, efficient and scalable delivery methods.
• Monitor training effectiveness and competence outcomes, driving continuous improvement where required.
• Ensure appropriate reporting, controls and assurance activities are in place to support programme governance requirements.
• Support programme audits, assurance reviews and regulatory engagement activities as required.
• Conduct post‑implementation reviews and adoption assessments to confirm ERTMS‑related changes have been successfully embedded and are delivering the intended outcomes.
