Job summary

Shirley Parsons partners with a leading UK principal contractor to appoint an Environmental Manager who will embed environmental best practice across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects.

You'll work with operational teams from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continual environmental improvement to leave a lasting legacy across sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing environmental compliance within a regulated industry (construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, manufacturing or similar).
• Solid understanding of UK environmental legislation, permitting, ISO 14001 and EIA.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and build trusted relationships with teams, regulators and clients.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with ability to identify improvements rather than only maintaining compliance.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Become the trusted environmental expert across high-profile projects, ensuring proactive risk management and regulatory compliance from pre-construction through to completion.
• Influence project teams, clients and supply chain partners to embed environmental best practice across delivery teams.
• Drive continual improvement in preconstruction by identifying innovative solutions that improve environmental performance and deliver commercial benefits.
• Lead environmental assurance activities, audits and incident investigations to strengthen compliance and share lessons learned.
• Coach and develop operational teams to build industry-leading environmental capability.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

• Experience in managing environmental compliance within a regulated industry such as construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, manufacturing, environmental consultancy or similar.
• A sound understanding of UK environmental legislation, permitting, ISO 14001, and EIA.
• The confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels, building trusted relationships with operational teams, regulators and clients.
