Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialist schools within a supportive multi-academy trust in Oldham. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs, helping them access the curriculum and participate in lessons.

This full-time, permanent role supports a Monday to Friday pattern, with duties including assisting the class teacher, supporting behaviour management, tracking progress, and contributing to a positive, nurturing

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
• Nurturing, patient approach with genuine passion for SEND.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible and resilient to meet pupils' needs.
• Understanding of Autism and SEND.
• Eligibility to work in the UK with DBS where required; willingness to apply if not held.
• Provide two professional child-related references.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and tailored interventions
• Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive routines throughout the school day
• Contribute to progress tracking and communicate regularly with the wider support team

Salary: 525 - 600 per week / Competitive (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
