Johnson Matthey in Royston, UK, invites applications for an Entry Level Operator I (12 months FTC). You will support production, follow process docs, and help maintain safety and efficiency in a large-scale chemical/manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 4 GCSEs (A*-C) including English, Maths, and Science.
• 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) in engineering or science and experience in chemical, engineering, or manufacturing fields are beneficial but not required.
• Should understand large-scale manufacturing facilities and the importance of EHS.
• Must demonstrate strong safety focus, teamwork, positive attitude, motivation, attention to detail, and commitment to learning.
• Requires strong communication skills, flexibility, integrity, and the ability to work accurately, efficiently, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for personal safety by following JM’s safe working practices, PPE guidelines, and contributing to a safe, healthy work environment, including reporting incidents and unsafe conditions.
• Follow all relevant process documentation (e.g., risk analyses, process instructions, standard work) and complete batch sheets and handovers to ensure smooth, continuous production.
• Support operations by performing skilled operator tasks, adhering to production schedules, conducting basic preventative maintenance, and carrying out duties as directed by the Production Lead.
• Drive continuous improvement by upholding 5S standards, collaborating with team members, suggesting process improvements, participating in failure investigations, and identifying plant reliability issues.
