Job summary

Johnson Matthey Plc in Royston is seeking an Entry Level Operator for 12‑hour shift work. You’ll learn to operate complex manufacturing and chemical processing equipment through structured training, applying documented processes and completing shift handovers to support safe, continuous production.

A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards is essential, along with GCSEs including English, Maths and Science, good attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science.
• Good attention to detail with the ability to follow documented processes accurately.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop within a manufacturing environment.
• Reliable, organised and flexible approach with the ability to work shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Working safely at all times, following site procedures, PPE requirements and safe working practices.
• Supporting production operations and learning to operate complex manufacturing and chemical processing equipment through structured training.
• Following process documentation, work instructions and risk assessments to ensure safe and consistent operations.
• Completing production records, batch sheets and shift handovers accurately to support continuous manufacturing.
• Carrying out basic preventative maintenance checks and reporting equipment or reliability concerns promptly.
• Contributing to continuous improvement activities, 5S standards and team initiatives to improve plant performance.
