Job summary

Hospice is seeking a Junior IT Assistant to join its IT team in providing hands-on, first-line technical support across staff, volunteers and retail operations. You will learn to setup equipment, support Microsoft 365 users, and maintain IT systems under the guidance of the Head of IT & Systems.

You will assist with daily IT queries, asset management, software updates and basic access control, while developing practical skills in a supportive, small-hospice setting.

Qualifications

• Entry-level IT role suitable for someone starting an IT career.
• Keen to learn, develop practical skills and provide friendly day-to-day support.
• Able to work in a small hospice environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing first-line technical support to staff and volunteers.
• Resolving common hardware, software, printer, and account issues.
• Supporting users with Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office apps).
• Assisting with setup, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment.
• Managing user accounts, permissions, and basic access requests.
• Installing and updating software and operating systems per processes.
• Maintaining IT documentation, asset records and checklists.
• Assisting Head of IT & Systems with small projects and routine checks.
• Learning about cyber security best practices and promoting safe use of Hospice systems.
• Liaising with external IT suppliers and escalating issues when needed.
