Job summary

Education Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with a progressive and well-respected secondary school in Derby to recruit a dedicated English Teacher for a position starting immediately or in January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled English educator to contribute to a thriving department and support students at KS3, KS4, and potentially English Language / Literature KS5.

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Minimum 6 months classroom teaching English in a UK secondary setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the KS3 & KS4 English curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby.
• Plan, prepare, and assess English Language and Literature lessons in line with department policy.
• Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions for GCSE preparation.
• Contribute to English department improvement planning.
• Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents evenings as required.

Pay Rate: £130 £230 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Qualification: QTS required

Experience: Minimum 6 months teaching experience in a UK secondary school

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver the KS3 & KS4 English curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby
• Plan, prepare, and assess English Language and Literature lessons in line with department policy
• Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions for GCSE preparation
• Contribute to English department improvement planning

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has at least 6 months of classroom teaching English experience in a UK secondary setting
• Is passionate about English education and student achievement
• Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school life
