Job summary

Education Personnel are seeking an English Teacher in Matlock, Derbyshire to work with our partner secondary schools. The role covers KS3 and KS4, including GCSE English Language and Literature, with flexible supply, long-term, or permanent opportunities.

QTS is required; UK secondary teaching experience is desirable. The position welcomes experienced teachers and ECTs, with immediate or January 2027 starts and a focus on engaging lessons and robust assessment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of KS3/KS4 English curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across KS3/KS4.
• Teach reading, writing, grammar, poetry, prose and drama.
• Support pupils preparing for GCSE English examinations.
• Plan and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum and school requirements.
• Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities.
• Maintain strong classroom behaviour and a positive learning environment.
• Contribute to departmental activities and pupil progress monitoring.
