Job summary

Education Personnel are partnering with a Derby secondary school to recruit a History Teacher for immediate start or January 2027. The role supports KS3, KS4 and potentially History KS5 within a thriving Humanities department.

You will deliver engaging History lessons with a focus on inquiry, source analysis and essay skills, while maintaining exceptional behaviour management and collaborative school life. QTS is required and a minimum of 6 months UK secondary teaching experience is essential;

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Minimum 6 months teaching history in a UK secondary school.
• Experience delivering KS3 and KS4 History; KS5 possible in Derby.

Responsibilities

• Deliver KS3 and KS4 History curriculum and assess learning.
• Plan, prepare, and assess lessons per department policy.
• Monitor progress and support interventions for source analysis and essays.
• Attend meetings, CPD, and parents' evenings as required.

Pay Rate: £130–£230 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver the KS3 & KS4 History curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby
  • Plan, prepare, and assess History lessons in line with department policy
  • Monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions for source analysis and essay skills
  • Contribute to History department improvement planning
  • Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents’ evenings as required

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
