Job summary

City of Glasgow College is seeking two Engineering Workshop Technicians to join the Technician Team. You will maintain and repair equipment, fabricate components and assist with STEM set-ups, bringing variety and high-quality workmanship to the role.

Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent) and have workshop experience, with strong mechanical systems knowledge. PVG check may apply; closing date soon.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC/SVQ Level 3, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a workshop, maintenance or engineering technician role.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems; welding/fabrication and hydraulic/pneumatic systems desirable.

Job description

2 x Engineering Workshop Technician

Permanent, Full Time, 35 Hours per week.

Salary: Grade 4 £33,276 – £35,791 per annum pro rata (Successful candidates will commence at £33,276 per annum)

City of Glasgow College is recruiting two Engineering Workshop Technicians to join our Technician Team. In this role, you will maintain and repair equipment and machinery, as well as fabricate components. Every day brings something different, from diagnosing faults to machining precision parts and assisting with STEM set-ups, making this position ideal for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in high-quality workmanship.

To apply for this position, you must hold a relevant engineering qualification, such as a recognised apprenticeship, HNC/SVQ Level 3, or have equivalent work experience. You should have previous experience in a workshop, maintenance, or engineering technician role and possess a strong knowledge of mechanical systems. Experience in the following technical areas is desirable; welding and fabrication, experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The ability to operate machining equipment confidently and accurately is essential. The successful candidate will have good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work. In addition, it would be desirable to demonstrate proven IT skills, maintaining/using PPM records, an understanding of COSHH would be advantageous with a strong commitment to health and safety.

The right candidates will be provided with training and upskilling where necessary to support this role.
