Job summary

Morrisons is seeking an engineering leader to drive maintenance excellence on the shop floor. You will lead the engineering team, prioritise work, and ensure reliable equipment to sustain production schedules.

Responsibilities include proactive maintenance, asset care, and hands-on repairs, with a strong focus on safety, HACCP, and continuous improvement. You will mentor staff, coordinate with Production and Maintenance, and uphold high standards of discipline and performance.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC Level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering.
• Proven track record in engineering and fault finding in an FMCG environment (ideally food industry).
• Proven track record of people management and delivering strong results through a team in a people management role.
• Good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 18th edition wiring regulations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Assertiveness with the ability to make decisions on the spot.
• Can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Minimise machinery downtime through proactive and predictive maintenance and rapid response to breakdowns.
• Improve equipment performance without compromising product quality through process optimisation and data-driven improvements.
• Engage and motivate the engineering team to drive productivity and innovation.
• Lead and support the Morrisons asset care programme to maintain and prolong asset life and reduce costs.
• Be hands-on in repairing and optimising equipment assets and set a strong example for the team.
• Coordinate maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team to avoid production disruptions.
• Prepare for and manage crisis incidents, investigations and corrective actions.
• Enforce discipline and manage grievances to maintain order and standards.
