Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking an Engineering Project Manager on a contract basis to lead complex capital expenditure projects from concept to handover in the UK. This role demands leadership across multiple disciplines, strong budgeting and scheduling skills, and a focus on safety and compliance.

You will drive risk management, collaborate with external design partners, and ensure technical integrity of engineering solutions across electrical infrastructure and OT/IT integration.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure and control systems.
• Knowledge of OT networking environments and industrial IT/OT integration.
• Experience with PLC, SCADA and HMI platforms.
• Experience delivering brownfield and greenfield projects and network upgrades.
• Awareness of ISA-95/ISA-88 standards and associated best practices.
• Proven ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and manage budgets.
• Experience with IT/OT integration including cybersecurity risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Capital Expenditure projects from concept through handover.
• Drive project progress and ownership of outcomes.
• Manage multiple projects with risk-based prioritisation.
• Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
• Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of projects.
• Manage scope, budgets, schedules, and change control processes.
• Lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams to achieve objectives.
• Maintain high standards of project documentation and reporting.
• Identify and mitigate project risks throughout the lifecycle.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Translate requirements into technical specifications and review designs for quality and compliance.
• Manage external design partners and review technical designs for integrity.
• Lead design reviews and ensure technical integrity of solutions.
• Support infrastructure, automation, networking, control systems, and integration projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver cost, sustainability, and process improvements.
• Manage supplier and contractor performance, including cost, quality, safety, and delivery.
• Develop project budgets, cashflow forecasts, and support commercial decisions.
• Maintain relationships with operational, technical, and leadership stakeholders.
