Job summary

Proactive Global in Bedford seeks an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead capital investment, infrastructure and development projects. You will own projects from business case through delivery, collaborating with engineering teams, procurement, finance and senior stakeholders to ensure on-time, within-budget outcomes.

The role requires delivering technically complex programs, managing suppliers and risks, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience delivering complex engineering or technical projects.
• Experience of CAPEX, capital investment, infrastructure or major equipment/plant projects.
• Strong understanding of project planning, budgets, schedules and cost control.
• Experience managing suppliers, contractors and procurement activity.
• Strong risk, issue and change management skills.
• Confidence working with technical specialists across different engineering disciplines.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• An engineering/technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience within manufacturing, aerospace, defence, automotive, R&D, industrial engineering or another technically demanding environment would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of engineering and capital projects across the full lifecycle.
• Develop and manage project requirements, scope and business cases.
• Create and manage project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate engineering and technical resources.
• Manage external suppliers, contractors and procurement activity.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow and commercial commitments.
• Identify and manage project risks and mitigations.
• Manage changes to scope, timescales and cost.
• Lead project meetings and stakeholder communications.
• Produce regular project status reports for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, security and regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of project management processes and standards.
