Job summary

NRL in Chorley, Lancashire, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead multidiscipline engineering teams and ensure the compliant and safe delivery of projects from tender through to completion.

You will define delivery strategies, manage cost, scope, and schedules, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers while working within UK regulations and a focus on innovation in regulated environments including nuclear projects.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification (Level 6) in a relevant discipline.
• Proven track record in engineering delivery and leading teams.
• Strong knowledge of UK engineering legislation (CDM, PUWER, Machinery Directive).
• Experience managing complex projects with budgets and schedules.
• Ability to provide technical assurance and ensure design compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidiscipline engineering teams to deliver safe, compliant designs.
• Define engineering delivery strategies and maintain baselines for cost, scope, and schedule.
• Provide technical direction and approve engineering outputs.
• Ensure compliance with UK regulations, legislation, standards, and internal processes.
• Support bids and business-winning activities with technical proposals.
• Identify and mitigate risks, implementing recovery plans as necessary.
• Engage with internal teams, clients, and the supply chain for integrated project planning.
• Foster a collaborative culture and mentor team members to develop capability.
