Job summary

Design Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager for a client based in Preston. This is a full-time permanent role with hybrid working, though site-based presence is preferred.

You will lead engineering strategies, bids and resource planning, assure technical delivery, and ensure compliance with UKCA/CE marking and safety standards in a safety-critical nuclear environment. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and able to gain Security clearance.

Mechanical Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Managerfor a client based in Preston, the role will be a full time permeant position with the client offering a salary that is commensurate with experience. The client does offer hybrid working but would be looking for candidates who can be site based.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading engineering strategies, bids, tenders, costs, schedules and resource planning.
• Managing multidisciplinary engineering delivery, technical direction and assurance.
• Ensuring designs comply with engineering requirements, legislation, regulations and applicable standards.
• Overseeing engineering compliance, verification and validation, UKCA/CE marking, configuration control and technical documentation.
• Applying conventional and nuclear safety principles throughout design and delivery.
• Managing technical risks, issues, change and recovery strategies to protect cost, quality and schedule.
• Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, SMEs and internal stakeholders.
• Driving quality, continuous improvement, learning from experience and engineering best practice.
• Developing, mentoring and coaching engineering personnel and supporting competency development.
• Ensuring environmental, health, safety and security requirements are consistently met.
