Job summary

NRL in Chorley, Lancashire, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead multidiscipline engineering teams and ensure the compliant and safe delivery of projects from tender through to completion.

You will define delivery strategies, manage cost, scope, and schedules, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers while working within UK regulations and a focus on innovation in regulated environments including nuclear projects.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification (Level 6) in a relevant discipline.
• Proven track record in engineering delivery and leading teams.
• Strong knowledge of UK engineering legislation (CDM, PUWER, Machinery Directive).
• Experience managing complex projects with budgets and schedules.
• Ability to provide technical assurance and ensure design compliance.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering delivery strategies and maintain baselines for cost, scope, and schedule.
• Provide technical direction and approve engineering outputs.
• Ensure compliance with UK regulations, legislation, standards, and internal processes.

We’re seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to join our client in Chorley. In this role, you’ll lead and develop multidiscipline engineering teams while ensuring the compliant and safe delivery of projects from tender through to completion. Salary£74,000 to £81,000 – depending on experience

Location and Working PatternChorley, Lancashire – on-site staff position Working week: 37 hours over 4 days (Monday to Thursday), plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day

• Experience managing complex projects, including budgets and schedules.
• Ability to provide technical assurance and ensure design compliance.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Previous experience in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
• Understanding of CE/UKCA marking strategies and applicable standards.
• Familiarity with multidiscipline integration and digital engineering practices.
