Job summary

Legal & General seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team delivering secure, scalable software solutions. You will stay hands-on in delivery while shaping technical direction and collaborating with product and architecture teams to create value for customers.

You will mentor engineers, drive quality and security, and own delivery metrics to improve performance and resilience across our modern software platforms.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on Java engineering experience with Spring Boot microservices.
• Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, including domain-driven and event-driven design.
• Proven track record leading engineering teams and coaching people.
• Excellent test-driven development and automated testing practices.

• Lead and develop a team of engineers to deliver secure, scalable software solutions.
• Plan delivery activities to achieve predictable outcomes.
• Design and build scalable, maintainable software while remaining hands-on.
• Coach and mentor engineers with structured development plans.

• Improve delivery through metrics and observability data.
• Manage operational readiness and technical debt for resilience.
• Collaborate with product and architecture to remove blockers and deliver customer value.
