Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR Ltd in the UK is seeking a Manager – Civil & Structural (Reactor Island) to lead a team of engineers across multiple workstreams, ensuring delivery of safety-classified designs and regulatory compliance.

You will shape strategy, mentor Technical Leads, manage interfaces with partners and regulators, and drive excellence in a highly regulated nuclear-like environment. Hybrid working from Derby/Warrington/Manchester with travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with Chartered Engineer status (ICE/IStructE).
• Experience leading large, safety-critical engineering programmes.
• Proven design management, governance and delivery of safety-classified structures (reinforced concrete/steel).
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards and industry best practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design across multiple Reactor Island workstreams to meet programme, quality and schedule objectives.
• Develop and coach a team of Technical Leads and delivery partners to achieve high performance.
• Oversee design, assessment and substantiation of safety-classified concrete/steel structures with regulatory compliance.
• Drive design integration and resolve complex interfaces across Reactor Island disciplines.
• Provide governance and assurance through design reviews, gateways and safety-case deliverables.
• Act as the lead escalation point for technical, programme and people challenges.
• Provide programme leadership through planning, risk management and progress reporting.
• Help shape engineering strategy and continuous improvement for future phases.
• Build strong relationships with regulators, partners and supply chain.
• Promote safety, quality and engineering excellence under CDM 2015.
