Job summary

Wise in the United Kingdom is seeking an Engineering Lead to join the embedded finance team. You will design, develop and maintain the team’s services while mentoring engineers to grow their skills and influence technical decisions.

You will work closely with a Product Manager to own the team’s roadmap, collaborate with cross‑functional partners, and deliver a reliable, scalable platform that enables partners to offer embedded finance products through their channels.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong hands‑on experience of Java (or similar stacks).
• Deep understanding of microservices and event‑driven architectures.
• Product mindset—you think about customer impact, not just technical implementation.
• Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
• Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.
