Job summary

Wise is seeking an Engineering Lead to join the Account Management team. You will guide a cross-functional team spanning backend, web and mobile, owning systems and architectural direction to support Wise's Current Account and everyday banking experiences.

You will work closely with Product and Design, balance speed with quality, and mentor engineers while ensuring reliability and scalability as the platform grows across accounts, payments and money movement.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering background and ability to guide senior engineers.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices.
• Comfort with JVM stack: Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Track record of reliability, scalability and correctness at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers and manage their growth and wellbeing.
• Stay hands-on: code, review designs/PRs, and ship features across backend, web and mobile.
• Own the team’s technical roadmap and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with PM and Design, providing sharp feedback on what to build and why.
• Work across boundaries with cross-team initiatives and stakeholders.
