Job summary

McLaren Racing invites applications for a 13-month Engineering Internship starting July 2027, based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking. You’ll contribute to on-track performance across Aerodynamics, Design, Performance, and Racing, expanding your engineering knowledge in a real F1 environment.

• Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a scientific discipline and ready to begin in July 2027.
• Working towards a minimum 2:1 degree classification or equivalent.
• General computing skills relevant to your placement area.
• A practical approach to engineering and strong problem-solving skills.
• A passion for motorsport; previous motorsport experience is welcome but not essential.

Job description

Our 13-month Engineering Internship offers you the opportunity to contribute to McLaren Racing’s performance while gaining first-hand experience of how a Formula 1 team operates. The placement will begin in July 2027 and sit within one of four areas:

• Aerodynamics– including CFD, Wind Tunnel Tech, Aero Design and Aero Operations
• Design– including Bodywork, Monocoque, Pit Equipment, Suspension, Systems, Transmission and Process Improvement
• Performance–including Competitor Analysis, Performance Analysis, Simulation Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics
• Racing–including Strategy, Pitstops & Operational Capability

Applications will close on Wednesday 16th September. There will be a second round of assessment sent on the Friday 18th September to be completed by the Monday 21st September.

The intern assessment days will be at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking on Wednesday 14th October, Thursday 15th October and Friday 16th October 2026. If you are selected to attend the assessment day, you will be notified the week prior.
