Job summary

McLaren Racing offers a 13-month Engineering Internship starting in July 2027, within Aerodynamics, Design, Performance or Racing. You will work on meaningful projects that influence on-track performance, guided by experienced colleagues in a collaborative, high-performing team.

We seek candidates pursuing Engineering, Mathematics or related sciences, aiming for at least a 2:1, with strong computing skills and a practical, data‑driven approach.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in a degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a scientific discipline and available to start July 2027.
  • Working towards a minimum 2:1 degree classification or equivalent.
  • General computing skills and software knowledge relevant to engineering.
  • Demonstrates a practical approach to engineering and strong problem solving.
  • Passion for motorsport; previous motorsport experience welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering projects within your placement area contributing to on‑track performance.
  • Take responsibility for specific projects with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Integrate quickly into your team and contribute to shared goals.
  • Apply technical knowledge and develop practical solutions to engineering challenges.

Job description

Our 13-month Engineering Internship offers you the opportunity to contribute to McLaren Racing’s performance while gaining first‑hand experience of how a Formula 1 team operates. The placement will begin in July 2027 and sit within one of four areas:

  • Aerodynamics - including CFD, Wind Tunnel Tech, Aero Design and Aero Operations
  • Design - including Bodywork, Monocoque, Pit Equipment, Suspension, Systems, Transmission and Process Improvement
  • Performance -including Competitor Analysis, Performance Analysis, Simulation Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics
  • Racing -including Strategy, Pitstops & Operational Capability

What You’ll Do

You will take responsibility for meaningful engineering projects that can directly influence on‑track performance. With guidance and support from experienced colleagues, you will apply your existing knowledge, develop new skills and contribute as part of a collaborative, high‑performing team.

What You’ll Bring
