Job summary

McLaren Racing invites you to join a 13-month Engineering Internship starting July 2027, across Aerodynamics, Design, Performance, and Racing. You’ll work on meaningful projects that influence on-track performance and gain first-hand experience of how a Formula 1 team operates.

Under guidance from experienced engineers, you will develop new skills, apply your knowledge, meet deadlines, and become part of a high‑performing, collaborative team that values innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• You will be completing a placement year as part of a degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a scientific discipline and be ready to begin in July 2027.
• You will be working towards a minimum 2:1 degree classification or equivalent.
• General computing skills and software knowledge relevant to your chosen placement area.
• A practical approach to engineering and strong problem‑solving skills.
• A passion for motorsport; previous motorsport experience is welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering projects within your placement area that contribute directly to on‑track performance.
• Take responsibility for specific projects, supported by guidance from experienced team members.
• Integrate quickly into your team and contribute effectively to shared goals.
• Apply your technical knowledge and develop practical solutions to new engineering challenges.
• Manage your work proactively, using your initiative to deliver against demanding deadlines.

Job Description

Our 13-month Engineering Internship offers you the opportunity to contribute to McLaren Racing’s performance while gaining first‑hand experience of how a Formula 1 team operates. The placement will begin in July 2027 and sit within one of four areas:

• Aerodynamics - including CFD, Wind Tunnel Tech, Aero Design and Aero Operations
• Design - including Bodywork, Monocoque, Pit Equipment, Suspension, Systems, Transmission and Process Improvement
• Performance -including Competitor Analysis, Performance Analysis, Simulation Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics
• Racing -including Strategy, Pitstops & Operational Capability
