Job summary

McLaren Racing offers a 13‑month Engineering Internship beginning July 2027, spanning Aerodynamics, Design, Performance and Racing. You will undertake real engineering projects, guided by experienced colleagues, and contribute to on‑track performance while gaining insight into how a Formula 1 team operates.

You will join a collaborative, high‑performing team, own projects with guidance, and deliver practical engineering solutions on challenging deadlines.

Qualifications

• Enrolment in a degree in Engineering, Mathematics or a scientific discipline, with July 2027 start.
• Minimum 2:1 degree classification or equivalent.
• General computing skills and software knowledge relevant to the placement area.
• Practical engineering approach and strong problem-solving skills.
• Passion for motorsport; previous motorsport experience welcome but not essential.

Job description

Our 13-month Engineering Internship offers you the opportunity to contribute to McLaren Racing's performance while gaining first-hand experience of how a Formula 1 team operates. The placement will begin in July 2027 and sit within one of four areas:

• Aerodynamics - including CFD, Wind Tunnel Tech, Aero Design and Aero Operations
• Design - including Bodywork, Monocoque, Pit Equipment, Suspension, Systems, Transmission and Process Improvement
• Performance -including Competitor Analysis, Performance Analysis, Simulation Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics
• Racing -including Strategy, Pitstops & Operational Capability

You will take responsibility for meaningful engineering projects that can directly influence on-track performance. With guidance and support from experienced colleagues, you will apply your existing knowledge, develop new skills and contribute as part of a collaborative, high-performing team.
