Job summary

Pearson's Defence School of Transport, Leconfield, is seeking an Apprenticeship Coach to guide Royal Logistic Corps apprentices on the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, helping them develop technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours. The role is based at DST Leconfield with occasional travel; a full UK driving licence is essential.

You will coach, observe, review progress and work with Defence stakeholders to prepare apprentices for Gateway and End Point

Qualifications

• Engineering, vehicle maintenance, transport engineering or related occupational experience.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, training or supporting the development of others.
• Knowledge of engineering maintenance principles and safe working practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage learner caseloads effectively.
• Good IT skills and confidence using digital learning platforms.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability and willingness to travel when required.
• Level 2 qualification in engineering, vehicle maintenance or equivalent (desirable); substantial relevant experience considered.
• Category C or C+E driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver coaching and apprenticeship support aligned to the Engineering Operative Level 2 Standard.
• Conduct learner reviews, workplace observations and progress discussions.
• Support apprentices in developing technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours.
• Monitor learner progress and identify support needs or barriers to achievement.
• Maintain accurate learner records and compliance documentation.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports learner development.
• Build relationships with learners, military stakeholders and training staff.
• Support apprentices in preparing for Gateway and End Point Assessment.
• Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
