Job Description

With a strong focus on providing a world-class and consistent building maintenance service, the role ensures that the needs of our healthcare client stakeholders are met at the highest standards.

The Maintenance Manager will oversee and manage the operational maintenance team, ensuring all site maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.

This includes hiring, training, and conducting staff appraisals to build a skilled and motivated team.

In addition to team management, the role involves planning, assigning, and directing work while continuously assessing service performance to ensure technical, contractual, and statutory compliance across a portfolio of healthcare facilities.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills, ensuring that maintenance operations are both proactive and responsive to the evolving needs of the client.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage ISS staff, ensuring compliance with work practices
  • Complete and present weekly/daily operations reports to the client
  • Ensure staff are knowledgeable about critical and non-critical systems
  • Maintain quality across facilities
  • Develop and exceed financial plans for revenue, profit, WIP reduction, debt, cost reduction, and contract growth
  • Ensure control systems meet statutory, policy, and contractual commitments
  • Manage outstanding jobs in line with SLAs and escalate when required
  • Deliver accurate monthly reports within deadlines
  • Act as AP for an element (e.g., Confined Space/Water) and produce monthly reports
  • Adhere to ISS technical policies, standards, procedures, and Safe Systems of Work
  • Lead by example and promote good health and safety practices
  • Provide assurance in maintenance activities against relevant standards (HTM, FSG20, HBN, BS)

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • Experience in building services, preferably in integrated facilities management (healthcare ideal but other environments considered)
  • Strong knowledge of Work Order Control and CMMS
  • Experience in subcontractor/vendor contract management
  • Experience managing KPIs and/or SLAs as required
  • Experience in capacity planning and reporting
  • Experience with High Risk Activities and Safe Systems of Work training
  • Ability to assess situations and offer options to meet/exceed objectives
  • Assistant/Deputy Managers ready to progress
