Job summary

Speedy Hire is seeking a Rail Engineer based in Bury St Edmunds to maintain and repair rail tools and equipment, ensuring availability for hire. The role operates a 42-hour week with a required shift roster, including two weekends every four.

You’ll be based at the depot and collaborate closely with colleagues and customers to keep service schedules up to date. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, PTS, NWR medical eligibility, and excellent communication.

• Strong mechanical skills and able to use tools effectively.
• Shift roster mandatory – must work 2 weekends out of 4, minimum paid.
• Must be eligible to complete NWR medical.
• Hold a PTS.
• Strong communication skills both verbally & written.

Based in the depot, the Rail Engineer is a key role to Speedy's supply of rail tools and equipment; ensuring service schedules are up to date and repairing faulty rail equipment as necessary to ensure it remains available for hire.
