Job summary

Speedy Hire in Erith is seeking an experienced Mobile Engineer to service, maintain and repair customer site equipment, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will manage planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns on customer sites, working independently to support customers and keep equipment in peak condition. A strong safety focus and good communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering experience in hire/plant environments.
• Strong fault finding and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing equipment at customer sites.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with service schedules.
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently; responding to breakdowns.
• Carrying out equipment inspections and safety checks; keeping records.
• Managing workload effectively while working independently and providing a professional service.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable.

We’re looking for an experienced Mobile Engineer to join our team in Erith, supporting customers directly at their sites and keeping their equipment safe, reliable and ready to work.

This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing engineering role where no two days are the same. You’ll manage planned servicing alongside responding to breakdowns, helping to keep our customers and their operations moving.

The role

As a Mobile Engineer, You’ll Be Responsible For

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing equipment at customer sites
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance in line with service schedules
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficientlyResponding to equipment breakdowns and getting customers back up and running
• Carrying out equipment inspections and safety checks
• Keeping accurate service and maintenance records
• Managing your workload effectively while working independently
• Providing a professional and helpful service to our customers
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure equipment remains safe and reliable

What You’ll Need

• Previous mechanical engineering experience – ideally within hire, plant or a similar engineering environment
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• A strong focus on safety and customer service
• A flexible and team‑focused approach
