Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Preston is recruiting energetic and compassionate EYFS SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex needs in a specialist setting. This role focuses on EYFS and primary-aged learners, requiring hands-on activity and a nurturing approach throughout the school day.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, assist with communication, sensory and learning activities, and support emotional regulation and independence.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Patient, resilient and able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Enjoy a practical, active role and are comfortable being on your feet throughout the day.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Can build positive relationships and create a nurturing learning environment.
  • Are confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting EYFS and primary-aged pupils with a range of complex special educational needs.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support throughout the school day.
  • Assisting pupils with communication, sensory and learning activities.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive engagement in learning.
  • Encouraging independence and the development of life skills.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
  • Supporting personal care where required.
  • Remaining active and on your feet for much of the day, including moving between activities and supporting pupils throughout the school environment.
