Job summary

Sense Education in Whitehaven is seeking an Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant to support children in the EYFS within a specialist setting. This role can be full time, part time or temp–perm, offering a nurturing, patient environment and a chance to make a difference for children with additional needs.

Responsibilities include supporting play-based learning, promoting social and emotional development, assisting the teacher with learning opportunities, and where needed providing personal care.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children in a school or nursery setting.
  • Candidates should have a Teaching Assistant qualification or a care background.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Support children through play-based learning and structured activities.
  • Help create a safe, fun and engaging environment.
  • Encourage social and emotional development through positive interactions.
  • Assist the teacher with learning opportunities to meet pupil potential.
  • Support pupils with SEND or complex needs.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Work 1-1 or in small groups.
