Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Lancaster is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant to support a Reception pupil with SEN. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and school team to create a nurturing, engaging learning environment that supports the child’s development.

The role requires patience, adaptability and experience with SEN; Level 2/3 EYFS or Childcare is preferred. Ongoing CPD, a dedicated local consultant, and potential long-term roles are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience with EYFS and supporting children with SEN in schools, nurseries or similar settings.
  • Ability to provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN within the Reception classroom.
  • Support communication, social interaction and emotional development.
  • Assist with learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCO and wider school team.

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming primary school in Lancaster who are seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to provide support for a child in Reception with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for somebody who is passionate about early years education and helping young children thrive both academically and socially.

This role would suit an experienced EYFS practitioner, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner or someone with a strong background supporting children with additional needs.

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCO and wider school team to provide tailored support for a Reception-aged pupil. Your role will involve helping to create a positive, nurturing and engaging learning environment that supports the child's development and progression.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a child with SEN within the Reception classroom.
  • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional development.
  • Assisting with learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence throughout the school day.
  • Implementing strategies and interventions recommended by school staff and external professionals.
  • Building positive relationships with the pupil, staff and parents/carers.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable in their approach.
  • Experienced working with children with SEN, either in schools, nurseries or similar settings.
  • Confident supporting children on a 1:1 basis.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team.
  • Committed to helping children reach their full potential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in EYFS, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field.
  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism, Speech & Language needs, SEMH, ADHD or other SEN requirements.
