Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a dedicated healthcare assistant to join a busy Endoscopy Unit providing diagnostic, therapeutic and acute procedures for in-patients and out-patients.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, support registered nursing staff, and deliver high-quality patient care before, during and after endoscopic procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment and contributing to service delivery.

Qualifications

• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
• Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Commitment to personal development and continuous learning within the role.
• Knowledge of Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology.
• Completion of a relevant training and/or competency programme.
• Experience working within an endoscopy, surgical, or gastroenterology setting.
• Understanding of patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support registered nursing staff by carrying out direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit.
• Assist during endoscopic procedures and support recovery areas.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and ensure patient confidentiality.
• Assist with patient admissions and discharges and undertake patient observations.
• Label and dispatch specimens; maintain stock and equipment levels.
• Participate in infection prevention and control procedures.
• Contribute to staff induction, training and ongoing professional development.
