Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting for an Endoscopy nursing role at New Victoria Hospital ACH. You will support registered nurses, provide patient care before, during and after procedures, maintain infection control, and assist in endoscopic procedures.

The post is permanent, part-time (25.9 hours per week) with shifts to meet service needs, and offers NHS benefits including annual leave, pension, development opportunities and staff support.

Responsibilities

• As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will support registered nursing staff by carrying out a range of direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit.
• You will provide specialist care to patients before, during, and after procedures, assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment, support patient admissions and discharges.
• Undertake patient observations, ensure specimens are accurately labelled and dispatched, maintain stock and equipment levels.
• Contribute to the delivery of high standards of care and assist during endoscopic procedures, recovery areas, and infection prevention controls.

Job description

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Endoscopy Unit that provides a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and acute upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures for both in‑patients and out‑patients. Working alongside a highly skilled and motivated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering high‑quality patient care and supporting the smooth running of the service. Knowledge of Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology would be advantageous.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Key responsibilities:

As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will support registered nursing staff by carrying out a range of direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit. You will provide specialist care to patients before, during, and after procedures, assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment, support patient admissions and discharges, undertake patient observations, ensure specimens are accurately labelled and dispatched, maintain stock and equipment levels, and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care. The role also involves assisting during endoscopic procedures, supporting recovery areas, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, and participating in staff induction, training, and ongoing professional development activities.
