Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a dedicated healthcare assistant to join a busy Endoscopy Unit providing diagnostic, therapeutic and acute procedures for in-patients and out-patients.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team, support registered nursing staff, and deliver high-quality patient care before, during and after endoscopic procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment and contributing to service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Support registered nursing staff by carrying out direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit.
• Assist during endoscopic procedures and support recovery areas.
• Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment and ensure patient confidentiality.
• Assist with patient admissions and discharges and undertake patient observations.
• Label and dispatch specimens; maintain stock and equipment levels.
• Participate in infection prevention and control procedures.
• Contribute to staff induction, training and ongoing professional development.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Endoscopy Unit that provides a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and acute upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures for both in-patients and out-patients. Working alongside a highly skilled and motivated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the smooth running of the service. Knowledge of Endoscopy, General Surgery, and Gastroenterology would be advantageous., As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will support registered nursing staff by carrying out a range of direct and indirect patient care duties within the Endoscopy Unit. You will provide specialist care to patients before, during, and after procedures, assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinical environment, support patient admissions and discharges, undertake patient observations, ensure specimens are accurately labelled and dispatched, maintain stock and equipment levels, and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care. The role also involves assisting during endoscopic procedures, supporting recovery areas, adhering to infection prevention and control procedures, maintaining patient confidentiality, and participating in staff induction, training, and ongoing professional development activities.

• Understanding of patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
