Job summary

YMCA Wellington & District is seeking a caring Enablement Officer to support young people in our accommodation. You will manage a caseload of tenants, provide one-to-one support and help young people develop the skills and confidence they need to live more independently.

This is a varied role where you will use Outcome Star to assess needs, set goals and measure progress, build trusted relationships, and work with housing colleagues and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Be caring, patient and reliable.
• Be able to build trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Be confident supporting young people with a range of needs and challenges.
• Understand person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based support.
• Be organised and able to maintain accurate records.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be willing to work flexibly according to service needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage an allocated caseload of young people.
• Build positive and professional relationships with tenants.
• Complete and regularly update individual support plans.
• Use Outcome Star to assess needs, set goals and measure progress.
• Implement YMCA Wellington & District's Support Pathway and Practice Framework.
• Provide one-to-one support in budgeting, benefits, health, relationships, education and employment.
• Teach practical life skills and support group activities for tenants.
• Encourage participation in wellbeing, social and community activities.
• Maintain case notes and records with timely updates.
• Identify safeguarding concerns in line with YMCA procedures.
