Job summary

City of York Council is seeking a dedicated Support Worker for the Short Break Service at Flaxman Ave. You will help adults with learning disabilities and/or autism in a six-bed, supportive environment. Role involves personal care, daily living support, and promoting independence.

The post requires compassion, integrity, and ability to work as part of a team; training and DBS checks are included, with shift patterns and allowances outlined.

Qualifications

• Care experience is desirable but not essential.
• Care Certificate training will be available and there is opportunity to work toward level 2/3 in care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cooking and cleaning.
• Support with washing and personal care.
• Assist with managing finances if required.
• Support with medication as needed.
• Assist with moving and positioning and wheelchair users.
• Support service users with complex health needs.
• Support individuals whose behaviour can present challenges.
