Empowering SEND Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support

Job summary

Aspire People is currently seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Romford. This long-term, ongoing role starts ASAP and offers 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional needs.

You will work closely with class teachers and the school’s SEND team, helping pupils develop learning, communication and social skills while promoting a calm, inclusive classroom environment. Experience with SEND, autism or SEMH is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEND (desirable).
• Patient, compassionate and confident in supporting individual needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Calm and consistent when managing behaviour.
• Strong communicator and team player.
• Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Support learning, development and engagement in lessons.
• Help manage behaviour and promote positive relationships.
• Support communication, social and emotional development.
• Implement individual learning and support strategies.
• Work with teachers and SENCO to ensure appropriate support.
• Help pupils develop confidence and life skills.
• Support a positive, inclusive and safe classroom.
