Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to join our People Team in a role focused on expert ER guidance for managers and proactive case management across the business.

You will help create a thriving workplace by applying strong ER policy knowledge and discreet, professional conduct. You will handle complex cases, coach leaders, collaborate with Legal and Occupational Health, and drive improvements to policies and processes, with opportunities for CIPD study support and hybrid

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of employee relations policies and UK employment law.
• Experience managing a varied ER caseload with professionalism.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for coaching managers.
• People-focused approach with discretion and confidentiality.
• HR Shared Services experience is desirable; CIPD development support available.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex ER cases with fair, compliant outcomes.
• Advise, coach and support managers on ER matters per legislation and policy.
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders and HR teams across Mitie.
• Collaborate with Legal and Occupational Health on conciliations and tribunals.
• Review ER policies and drive continuous improvements.

Location: Birmingham
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday and Friday

We're looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to join our growing People Team, providing expert employee relations advice and support to managers across the business while helping create a great place to work for all colleagues.

Role Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex employee relations cases, ensuring fair, compliant and commercially focused outcomes.
• Advise, coach and support managers on employee relations matters in line with employment legislation, company policies and best practice.
• Build effective working relationships with senior stakeholders, the wider HR team and business leaders across Mitie.
• Collaborate with Legal and Occupational Health partners on Early Conciliation cases, Employment Tribunal claims and employee wellbeing matters.
• Review employee relations policies and processes, making recommendations and supporting the implementation of continuous improvements.

What We're Looking For

• Strong knowledge of employee relations policies, procedures and UK employment law of varied complexity
• Experience managing a varied employee relations caseload with confidence and professionalism
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and coach managers effectively.
• A people-focused approach, demonstrating respect, discretion and confidentiality at all times.
• Experience working within a HR Shared Services environment is desirable.
• A curious and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to adapt your approach to different situations.
• Ideally CIPD qualified at Level 3 or Level 5, with support available for further professional development.
