Pertemps Scotland, on behalf of its client, is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join the busy People team for 6 months. The role balances complex case management with policy development.

You will advise managers, review HR policies, and contribute to continuous improvement, while building effective relationships with stakeholders and employee representatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience within an employee relations or HR advisory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and ER best practice.
  • Experience managing complex ER casework: disciplinary, grievance, attendance and performance.
  • Experience developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written communication with attention to detail.
  • Analytical with evidence-based recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Customer-focused approach delivering a high-quality HR service.
  • Chartered CIPD membership or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a range of ER cases including attendance, disciplinary, grievance and performance.
  • Provide expert advice to managers on complex people issues.
  • Research and benchmark against employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Review and update HR policies; draft new policies as required.
  • Develop guidance materials, templates and implementation resources.
  • Collaborate with employee representatives and stakeholders for policy rollout.
  • Analyse HR data and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve policies, procedures and ways of working.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join a busy People team for 6 months, providing expert advice and support across a wide range of employee relations matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys balancing complex case management with policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will manage a varied portfolio of employee relations cases, ensuring matters are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with employment legislation and organisational policies. Alongside casework, you will play a key role in reviewing, developing, and implementing HR policies and procedures that support organisational goals and best practice.

Working closely with managers, stakeholders, and employee representatives, you will provide pragmatic advice and contribute to a positive employee experience through effective people management practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a range of employee relations cases, including attendance, disciplinary, grievance, and performance matters.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers on complex people issues.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking against employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Review existing HR policies and draft updates and new policies where required.
  • Develop supporting documentation, guidance materials, templates, and implementation resources.
  • Work collaboratively with employee representatives and key stakeholders to gather feedback and support successful policy implementation.
  • Analyse HR data and trends to support decision-making and case resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve policies, procedures, and ways of working.

Qualifications
  • Chartered CIPD membership, working towards CIPD accreditation, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
