Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join the People Team in Birmingham. You will deliver expert ER guidance to managers across a range of employment matters in a busy, task-based environment.

You'll investigate complex issues, support disciplinary and grievance processes, and help managers resolve cases with confidence, balancing legal compliance with business objectives.

Employee Relations Advisor

Location: Birmingham
Shift: 37.5 Hours, Monday to Friday

We're looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our growing People Team to deliver across a variety of ER cases within a task-based environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an ER professional who is passionate about delivering expert advice, resolving complex workplace issues and helping managers navigate employee relations matters with confidence.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide expert employee relations advice and guidance to managers across a wide range of employment matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
• Support and coach managers through disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, absence management, ETs, flexible working and conduct-related matters.
• Assess employee relations risks and provide pragmatic recommendations that balance legal compliance with commercial objectives.
• Support investigations into complex employee relations issues, ensuring matters are handled professionally, sensitively and in accordance with company policy.

What We're Looking For

• Strong employee relations experience gained within a fast-paced, complex or multi-site organisation.
• Excellent working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application in a business environment.
• Proven experience advising managers on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and Early Conciliation
• Strong investigation, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk and recommend appropriate courses of action.
• Experience operating within a Shared Services or centralised HR environment would be beneficial.
• CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
